ATLANTA – In the final regular season event of the 2017-18 PGA TOUR Season, 2012 TOUR Championship and FedExCup winner Brandt Snedeker carded a first-round 59 and capped off his ninth career PGA TOUR victory with a final-round 65 to win the Wyndham Championship by three strokes over Webb Simpson and C.T. Pan as the top 125 players in the FedExcup standings are now officially qualified for the FedExCup Playoffs. The Playoffs feature a progressive cut, beginning with the top 125 players at THE NORTHERN TRUST in Paramus, New Jersey (125 players), where only 100 players advance to the Dell Technologies Championship in Boston with 70 players advancing to the BMW Championship in Philadelphia. From there, only the top 30, the best from the entire PGA TOUR season and the FedExCup Playoffs advance to the TOUR Championship at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, where the FedExCup champion will be crowned on Sept. 19-23.

With the win, Snedeker moves from 80th into the coveted top 30 in the standings at No. 30. Snedeker ends a winless drought of over two years, with his most recent victory prior to yesterday coming at the 2016 Farmers Insurance Open. If he gets to East Lake Golf Club, Snedeker has fond memories to draw on as the winner of both the 2012 TOUR Championship and FedExCup. That year, Snedeker entered the week at No. 5 in the standings and was ensured the FedExCup season title with a victory in the tournament.

“It's huge. Your position going into the Playoffs dictates a lot of your chances of winning the FedExCup Playoffs, dictates how you can think and play, your realistic chances of winning or not winning. As somebody who's been fortunate enough to win before, I realize how important it is to be in a good position going into the Playoffs and also to play well when you're there,” Snedeker said. “After this week I feel like I have a chance, I feel like I kind of put myself in position where three good weeks going to East Lake, you never know what's going to happen.”

As the FedExCup Playoffs begin, the top five in the standings include Dustin Johnson, Justin Thomas, Brooks Koepka, Justin Rose and Bubba Watson. Full standings can be found at https://www.pgatour.com/fedexcup.html.
