FedExCup Update: Scheffler moves to No. 1 following PGA Championship victory
The PGA TOUR Season’s finale event returns to East Lake Golf Club from August 20-24
ATLANTA – With his victory at the PGA Championship, securing his third major championship title and his second win of the 2025 season, Scottie Scheffler earned 750 FedExCup points to move from No. 4 to No. 1 in the FedExCup standings. Now holding a 12-point lead over three-time FedExCup Champion (2016, 2019, 2022) Rory McIlroy, Scheffler, the reigning FedExCup Champion, will make his sixth consecutive trip to the TOUR Championship (Aug. 20-24) as he seeks to become the first-ever back-to-back FedExCup Champion.
The TOUR Championship is the culmination of the PGA TOUR season and the FedExCup Playoffs where the TOUR’s top 30 global stars compete for the FedExCup and a $25 million bonus.
Scheffler opened his 2025 campaign with five top-10 finishes in eight starts before his first victory of the season at THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson, where he tied the PGA TOUR’s 72-hole scoring record. In his next start, the Dallas resident earned his 15th career TOUR victory and third career major championship title at the PGA Championship, hosted at Quail Hollow Club.
Scheffler joined Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods as the only players during the modern era to win 15 times on the PGA TOUR, including three majors, before the age of 29. With the victory, Scheffler also became the sixth player to have won the Masters Tournament, PGA Championship and THE PLAYERS Championship during his career (Jack Nicklaus, Raymond Floyd, Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Rory McIlroy).

At the 2024 TOUR Championship, Scheffler hoisted the FedExCup following a career-defining season which included six regular season victories and an Olympic gold medal. Scheffler held the lead in the FedExCup standings for the final 25 weeks of the 2024 season, which marked the longest streak to end the season of any FedExCup Champion since the inception of the FedExCup in 2007. With his win at the TOUR Championship, Scheffler became the first player to win seven or more times in a single season since Tiger Woods in 2007. In five previous starts at East Lake Golf Club, Scheffler holds four top-10 finishes (Won/2024; T6/2023; T2/2022; T22/2021; 5/2020).
